I'm very excited! I installed the first ceiling fan in our new home today. It only took seven hours. Four more ceiling fans to go. Okay...there's an explanation. I installed a ceiling fan with a wall mounted remote control!
You see, they make remote controls that mount right in to the space where your light switch goes (see blurry picture below), so it looks as if your house was, in fact, wired for ceiling fans. As you may know, ours was not. Since I'm worried about what people might think about the ceiling fan in my bedroom (only kidding), I installed this remote in the wall. It's the greatest thing ever!
The reason it took 7 hours is that I had some technical difficulties getting it to work properly. In fact, I returned one remote unit to The Home Depot this afternoon thinking it was faulty, only to find out later I was putting the battery in backwards. Aggie engineering, I guess. Don't tell Amber. I haven't fessed up, yet.
A family friend is coming over on Tuesday to wire our upstairs bedrooms for ceiling fans. He's also agreed to installed a ceiling fan with remote on the tall ceiling in the living room downstairs. I'd do it myself, but I don't have a 20 foot ladder, and even if I did, I don't have the guts to climb that high.
I'm sure you're bored with my story. I just thought I'd share my small victory.

'i' before 'e', except after 'c' or when sounding like 'a' like in neighbor and weigh, and on weekends and holidays, and all throughout May, and you'll always be wrong, no matter what you say!
YOUR CEILING FAN FELL DOWN?!?!?
Hey guys!
We are so excited for you that you are in your new house! Wish we could have helped in some capacity. My Greg wouldn't get up that high on a ladder either, so sorry! Looks like you are all doing well. Miss seeing you!
